If you think it's bad here, you should just see what's going on along the Gulf Coast of Florida! Toll Brothers, gated communities, the whole lot!
As far as McMansions go, my cousin lives in Northern Virginia where apparently it is almost impossible to buy a piece of property, tear down the existing house & then build a bigger one. So what happens? Existing one-story bungalow-type houses are being "mansionized" beyond belief. Another reason why the US needs MORE PLANNING RESTRICTIONS--just like in Europe and other civilized parts of the world.
